Updated SCA School Visit Guidance and Protocols
Dear SCA Community,
We write to you today to follow up on the recent announcement by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updating when and where masks and physical distancing are required for fully vaccinated individuals. Although the CDC has indicated that masks and physical distancing are no longer required for fully vaccinated individuals in school buildings, the School Construction Authority, in alignment with the City of New York, continues to require mask wearing and physical distancing for SCA staff, contractors and consultants visiting or working within the confines of active school buildings.
The SCA has updated guidance for fully vaccinated SCA staff, consultants and contractors working outdoors at a school location or at sites that are not yet active NYC public schools, pre-K and 3K facilities. The updates include:
Again, anyone on a school site must continue to wear a mask and physically distance while in the school building, regardless of vaccination status.
Fully vaccinated individuals may remove their masks and do not need to physically distance when outside of the school building or meeting outdoors.
As a reminder, fully vaccinated means two weeks past the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, or the first dose of a one-dose COVID-19 vaccine.
We will continue to monitor guidance, make updates as warranted, and be sure to inform you when we do. To learn more about what the SCA is doing to keep work sites safe, see http://www.nycsca.org/COVIDInformationPortal.
Thank you for doing your part to end this pandemic.
